The streets of Manila – a 14 km walk through the Pearl of the Orient

I love to explore, and I do that often by myself. I love traveling alone to meet new people on the street and feel a city’s real vibe. When I was 25, I traveled to Prague, Shanghai, Dubai, and Munich. I always walked through the cities on my own two feet.

It’s the best way to experience the city and learn about the locals, not from a taxi or a five-star resort. That’s what I did in Manila. I started my walk in BGC, Taguig, and walked all the way through Guadalupe Nuevo, Guadalupe Viejo, and Mandaluyong to Makati.

I met many amazing people in Manila, and I was smiling when I returned to the hotel. I had a Whiskey mix drink at a 7-eleven, tried street food in Guadalupe Viejo, met a bunch of kids along the way, watched Basketball, and partied at the Barangka drive in Mandaluyong for a birthday.

I’m still smiling, even months later. I enjoyed my time in Manila so much that I want to return. But my next trip will take me to Isaan, the northeastern region of Thailand. Of course, I will also blog and film my experiences there. But I am sure I will return to Manila and the Philippines again.
