I first came across Meander Saigon through a YouTube video by Paddy Doyle and was instantly captivated by these fantastic rooms. Now, it’s my go-to accommodation choice whenever I’m in Ho Chi Minh City. While Meander Saigon is classified as a “hostel,” it offers so much more than the typical hostel experience: exceptional rooms, cleanliness, service, and a relaxed atmosphere complete with a terrace.
The hostel
Meander Saigon’s website refers to it as a “hostel,” but don’t let that label fool you. This accommodation provides both dormitories and private, nicely designed and maintained rooms. The private rooms might not be the cheapest option, but they’re worth the money. This option features ensuite bathrooms, nice bathtubs, and very comfortable beds. Guests can enjoy a co-working space, a simple kitchen, a lovely terrace, and a rooftop bar. The entire building is in a modern design that perfectly complements the vibrant energy of Ho Chi Minh City.
The location
Meander Saigon is located in District 1, near the city’s “Japanese area”. The hostel’s location offers excellent value for money, providing a relatively quiet setting. But just within a 3-5 minute walk, you can reach numerous bars, restaurants, and grocery shops.

Good to know
Meander Saigon does not provide breakfast, but you can purchase hot, fresh coffee right outside the building. For those craving some bread, a Japanese bakery is just 50 meters away towards the city centre. Room cleaning service is available upon request but may be limited. But that’s ok. Remember, while it may feel like an excellent 4-star hotel, it’s still a hostel. Free water is available on each floor. Unfortunately, the laundry service was cancelled in July 2023 – which is definitely a bad decision, in my opinion. The friendly staff can also be contacted via WhatsApp for inquiries or assistance.
