Sir Cecil’s Ride, Jardine’s Lookout to Repulse Bay Beach

A new week, a new hike: I left the MTR train at Tin Hau, climbed to Braemar Hill and followed the Sir Cecil’s Ride trail to Mount Butler and the Jardine’s lookout. After a short break, I stepped down to the Wong Nai Chung Reservoir and passed the Hong Kong Parkview Building complex. At the end, I explored the last kilometres to Repulse Bay Beach.

Starting point

I made a mistake when I started in Tin Hau – by feet. I took a trail map and decided to follow the paths. But I failed. Most were closed or extremly dirty. So I propose that you better choose the way below:

  1. Head to Tin Hau MTR
  2. Take Exit A or B
  3. From here, catch the green minibus 49M
  4. Once you arrived at the Braemar Hill bus terminus, walk across the street and step down to the path along with the Joan of Arc Secondary School.

Duration, Difficulty & Distance

The whole hike took me around 4 1/2 hours, with a couple of short break for shooting my video. The total length in my case was roughly 13.5 km, with an elevation gain of 595 meters. The trail is not steep, the footpaths are easily accessible. I would classify the trek with a 4/10—an easy hike for beginners.
